Where to find ideas for your blog

Most experts that I know of suggest that you make blogging a priority if you are starting an online business. The problem many new bloggers face is trying to come up with ideas for content for the blog. It might seem like a daunting task, and I will admit that there are days when I sit at the computer and struggle with writers block. Sometimes you just have to walk away and go for a walk, get some exercise, pray, go shopping, enjoy a beautiful sunrise or sunset. Often just that break will give you some inspirations.

Keeping up with all the industry news in your niche is one way to come up with content. If you have a gmail account with Google, you can set up Google alerts and everytime Google finds something published about the keyword you set, they will send an alert to your gmail account. You will be surprised how many ideas that will provide.

Inspiration might be as close as a magazine rack.

Go to a place where they have a large display of magazines. If your topic is something that there would found in a magazine, you can pick up a copy and peruse it for ideas. Try and think of new twists around your topic. If there are industry trade publications, those can be gold. If there is a particular magazine that gives you great ideas, you might want to get a subscription. You might find a great deal at an online subscription site like Maghound.

You can also invite other people to guest publish on your blog. If they specialize in something that is a natural compliment to what you do, it is a great way to get content as well as exposure to followers of that person. A lot of time reciprosity comes into play and you will be asked to guest bolg for them as well. That is a great scenario.

Blogging can be audio and video too

If you aren’t in the mood to write, you can record your blog, do a screencast, or use a video. You can go to YouTube and find interesting or  pertinent videos and use them. Creating your own video is super easy with a flip camera. All you do is point and click (so to speak) and plug it into your computer. Once it is loaded on your computer, going to YouTube is a breeze and it is a blast to boot! I will wite a post about how to put a video on your site in the near future. Keep an eye on the Help Using WordPress section of my site.

Continuing education is a great place to get lots of idea for blogs. As you learn new things, you will have lots of potential content. I suggest that you just buy a small pocket notebook that you carry with you, because you never know when you will get ideas. I don’t know about you, but I really have to write things down, or later I will be racking my brain trying to remember. You sort of have to get back in the kindergarten mindset and let your curiosity loose. If you are my age, it is possible it has been pent up for awhile,
