How to Get Traffic to Your Website

There are a lot of things to take into consideration when you start writing for your blog. Just as you would have an outline and a plan for any paper that you would have turned into a teacher to be graded, you need to have a plan for your web content. At first it seems like a lot of work, and I won’t lie to you, I do spend a lot of time working on the steps to create good content here that hopefully will help you get off on the right foot when you start your WordPress blog.

I have told you already, that on my other site, http://www.doughraisingmom.com I just jumped in and wrote various posts about whatever was on my mind at the time. I never bothered to do keyword research, pay attention to the title, the headings and subheadings. I had no idea what anchor text even was.

All of those things will make a big difference in how the search engines deliver traffic to your website, and should be done before you sit down at your keyboard. I took a class today on SEO copywriting. It was full of really helpful information, so I am going to share my notes with you. If you just start doing this from the beginning, you should see a nice return for your efforts. Let’s get started.

How to get traffic to website.

To start off, your title is critically important. It should contain your keyword or keyword phrase. You can see why it is important to start with the keyword research. The use of the specific keywords or keyword phrases is important. Remember, that research tells you exactly how people are searching for information. Google and the other search engines look for exact match of the keywords, and that counts a lot in the algorithm they use to decide the placement to give any page.

Let’s take a look at this post.”traffic to your website” is one of the keyword phrases I am using to optimize this post with. I added want more and made it a question to make it readable for people. Remember, at the end of the day, the search engines will never make a purchase from your site, people will, so you have to write your blog with your fellow human beings in mind.

Keep in mind that Google does not just rank your website but rather each page of your website. That makes it possible that one particular post could reach number one ranking in Google, but it is just that page that gets the ranking. Hopefully once someone comes to your website, they will spend a lot of time looking around.

You can see why doing the research is equally important for each page, since they stand alone when the search engines give them a ranking. There are other factors involved like links, but that is a topic for another day.

Writing for your blog will result in traffic to your website…..

if you do it right. You can see that in my subheadings, I have used the keyword phrases, “writing for your blog” and “traffic to your website”. Those are a couple of the strategic places you should be using your keyword to your best advantage. You have to be sure that you are consistant though, the content that follows in the paragraph should be on topic with the heading, and if possible use the keywords in a conversational manner.

There are other opportunities for optimize using keywords. When you are adding an image, you have the chance to do some optimization. The box that opens up has a line for the title , and “alt” tag and a meta description. That gives you three more chances to use keywords, and again, they have to relevant, but don’t miss the chance to score a couple more points with Google.

In addition, you have the chance to write the description, and it also should be very relevant to the content of the post. Google may choose to use that description as the description of your site that someone looking for websites will see. You want to make sure it contains your keywords or keyword phrases.

Getting traffic to your website is a challenge to every site.
